How-to: Install Flash on your jailbroken iPad (for real)
We just saw Flash 10.1 ported to the iPad demonstrated in video form by Comex, and now you can get in on the action too, as long as your iPad is jailbroken. It’s called Frash, and while the plugin is still pretty early and doesn’t do video playback yet, you can definitely play games and other animations right now, and we’re told video support is forthcoming. Okay, so let’s try this out, shall we? It’s not point-and-click simple, but it’s not that hard, either. Full instructions after the break. Read the rest of this entry »
iPad Cam-Case concept sets sights on big-screen FaceTime
Apple’s decision to omit a webcam from the iPad is even more frustrating when you consider the number of people playing with FaceTime on their iPhone 4 smartphones, and so Chet Rosales‘ Cam-Case concept seems mighty topical. Intended to not only protect the Apple tablet but add a rotating webcam for front- and rear-facing video use, it would also make the iPad easier to hold by virtue of its rubberized edges.
Pressure-sensitive drawing headed to iPad in free software library (video)
“The iPad’s IPS panel is pressure-sensitive, you say?” No, that’s not quite right, but with some clever software and a special capacitive stylus, the folks at Ten One Design built a convincing proof of concept anyhow. While we’re not quite sure how it works, the current theory states that the soft tip of the stylus expands like a brush when you press it down, generating a “larger press” that can be detected by the hooks in Ten One’s code — which they soon plan to share as a free software library (assuming Apple allows) with developers around the world. See it in action in a video after the break, and if you’re feeling your inner Rorschach today, let us know what you see in the above drawing. Read the rest of this entry »
iTunes Accounts Hacked to Distort Ranking Figures and Make Mass Purchases
It has been reported that rogue iPhone app developers such as Thuat Nguyen have been hacking into the App store in order to increase their apps rankings making themselves 40 of the top 50 apps. Alarm bells were raised after a vast majority of book released in April by seller Thuat Nguyen had very little or no customer ratings or reviews and then mysteriously rapidly increased in ranking.

iPad gets Flash with Frash hack [Video]
The iOS hacker behind the Spirit jailbreak for iPad and iPhone has followed up with a build of Adobe’s Flash that works on the iPad. Ported from the recent Android release and dubbed “Frash”, it runs in a compatibility layer and permits “most Flash programs” – such as streaming videos and games – to play natively in the iPad’s Safari browser.
Flash 10.1 ported to iPad, burninates the countryside (video)

Take it with a grain of salt, but it’s looking like some prayers have been answered on this Fourth of July — Flash (or is that “Frash”?) is running on this man’s iPad, cleverly ported from Android. The YouTube video claims that by using a compatibility layer, the Android runtime can play Flash content natively in Safari, but only on iPad so far — iPhone 3GS support is planned soon, as is iOS 4, and there’s a call for developers to move the project forward at GitHub. We’ve no way of determining its legitimacy at this moment, but it sure seems like Comex (he of the iPad “Spirit” jailbreak) has outdone himself this time, and hey, where there’s smoke, there’s fire, right? See Strongbad answer emails on iOS, right after the break.
