News about concepts:
Going green sees new projects materializing

It goes without saying that in this day and age, going green is more or less mandatory if you or your company wants to win brownie points with people around. Sure, we have solar powered cell phones and electric cars as well as the slew of recycling programs that you participate in on an almost religious basis, but what about the home that you live in?
Music Echo concept

If you would have noticed by now, there would be a bunch of product design students attached to the University of Dundee who have to come up with a final year project, and they are busy pinging gadget and design blogs all over the place to pimp their design, hoping to gain as much accolade and bouquets as possible. Jennifer Crossley has come up with a rather interesting Music Echo concept, where she intends for this device to help those out with hearing impairments.
Blinput system helps visually impaired get around easier

Losing your faculty of sight is something not anyone would embrace all too willingly, but should that happen to you, surely you would want to do your best and learn how to live life all over again. Of course, the reading part is already solved with the Braille system, but when it comes to being really independent, walking and traveling from one place to another all by yourself, life just got a whole lot more challenging. Being in a developed country with proper guidelines and construction of buildings to help it be more blind-friendly, but what about the others who are less fortunate, literally having to grope around just to move about? The standard cane and guide dog isn’t going to be enough, and this is where the conceptual Blinput system could potentially come in handy.

Halo Bike Lock Will Text You When Your Bike Gets Stolen
Apparently it’s Summer or something, because bike safety is taking a front-and-center approach the last few days. But that’s not a problem, especially when the concepts are some of the coolest things out there. In the latest effort, we’ve got a concept from designer Steve Hunt, which manages to attract our eyes in its shiny aesthetics, our curiosity with the features Hunt plans, and just the name alone gets us all intrigued.
Renshui Faucet Will Prove You Are Tech Obsessed
As you sit in your abode, looking around and at all the shiny gadgets you’ve got lying around, where’s the one place that just seems to be lacking in the out-right ridiculousness of the tech industry? Sure, there’s plenty of smart bathtubs, and entire bathrooms, out there, but what about just the faucet? We’ve got faucets with capacitive touch controls, sure, and there’s plenty of concepts out there to make our future-selves pretty happy. But what about the here and now? Say hello to the Renshui Faucet, coming straight out of China and ready to blow your socks off.
Apple’s 3×3cm Touchscreen is the Real iWatch?
Do you remember the iWatch? It was a concept from ADR Studio, and it was something that they wished Apple would unveil at this year’s WWDC. Obviously none of that happened, but that doesn’t mean the concept from the studio wasn’t out-right awesome. But, it didn’t look like Apple was interested in doing anything that small with touchscreens. Until now. Thanks to some leaked images, it looks like Apple is busy working on something that utilizes a touchscreen measuring only 3×3cm.

The Daily Slash: July 8th 2010
Thursday night — the night before the end of the work week. We can feel the excitement. Can you? Well, unless your work week is just getting started, or doesn’t even start until this weekend. Then we feel your pain. But let’s try to focus on the fun tonight, shall we? Welcome to tonight’s edition of The Daily Slash. In the Best of R3 Media, we’ve got a new release date for the Vibrant, Apple may have used their kill switch, and Opera Mini’s been updated. And then in the Dredge ‘Net, a solar plane flies 26 hours, AQUA2 is another aquatic robot, and a foldable bike exists.
Kokonatchi Connects via USB, Notifies You of Tweets and Messages [Video]
If it weren’t for the blank-stare faces on these things, we would have assumed they were just your average stress reliever. But, that’s not the case at all. After all, those are faces, which means they’ve got to do something else, right? The Kokonatchi is being designed by students at the University of Tokyo and Waseda University, and it’s sole purpose is to be a small desktop notification robot that lets you know when a new message hits your Twitter feed.
Folding Shower Lets You Choose Where Your Shower Goes
If memory serves, the last time we showcased a folding piece of bathroom gadgetry, it was a toilet — and it was far more compact than this big thing is. Not that we’d expect a shower to be all that compact, but considering the market that the designers are aiming this thing for, we would think that size would be a focal point. As of right now, the designers are looking for a manufacturer and distributor to bring the Folding Shower to the world, so it at least sounds like they think they’ve got a great idea.
The Daily Slash: July 6th 2010
Tonight’s a bit of a phone night, and we really can’t explain why. But, as you know, it happens. But, in any event, welcome to the eve of the rest of the week. In tonight’s edition of The Daily Slash, tucked away in The Best of R3 Media, we’ve got what HTC calls plans for the future of Android and HTC Sense, the coolest ceiling fan in the history of ceiling fans, and the Droid Incredible’s (shocker) been pushed back again. And then in the Dredge ‘Net, scientists have created a ridiculously strong battery, the original Kindle patent spells doom and gloom for the competition, and some lucky Droid X pre-orderers are getting their devices early.
